Shortkickz

Shortkickz is certainly on the rise, raring to go, and one to keep an eye on. He's played at Distorted, Get your Kicks Out, Phetkore, Aftermath All Day Annihilation. We asked Shortkickz to put a few words together for us, how he got started, what motivates him and here's what he had to say.

Shortkickz was born 1992 the year it all began!! How can I say so much in short words about the year... Forget about me but not the hardcore industry! Gabber!! Thunderdome!! I live for them sounds! As much as I wasn't there in person as I would have been a mere child, but oh wow has the hardcore sound taken a hold of me!! But this is just the start of my journey. I really enjoy mixing the harder sounds! Terror and Speedcore are on the rise for me.. most certainly my favourite styles to mix" "I was always obsessed with music from a young age.

My mum's old Helter Skelter and Bonkers tape packs kept me entertained through most of my childhood. My first ever experience of properly mixing was on a set of ddj400's and a djm450 mixer. I didn't actually get my own set of decks until I was 24. I picked up a pair of Stanton cdj's off a mate and a Behringer djx750. Nothing flash but it kickstarted the passion for mixing! I now use a ddj1000 with a pair of Stanton T62.M2's either side for when I feel like a vinyl fix."
